A native of the northeast -- the beautiful Garden State of NJ to be exact, I have worked since 2006 as an assistant professor in the pediatric residency program (University of Texas - Dell Medical School) and as an outpatient pediatrician for CommUnity Care (CUC). I find great joy in my work, both from the families I care for as well as the learners I get to interact with on a daily basis.
Further, I am the lead pediatrician for the group visit program at CUC, also known as Centering Parenting. We have been using this innovative model since 2009 and it is a wonderful way to form community within the medical home by bringing together cohorts of similarly-aged babies and their parents to receive their well child care in a group rather than individually. I am and have been a big fan girl of VELA for a long time and am excited & grateful to be part of the board! I know that community is also at the heart of VELA's mission and this resonates strongly with me in my professional and personal life.Â
